[Taipei] — Hony Glass Technology Co., Ltd. today announced the successful acquisition of GemTech Optoelectronics Corp.’s ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) glass production line, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into high-end display and conductive glass applications. The new production line supports large glass substrates measuring 300×350 mm and 1300×1600 mm, and offers a wide range of surface resistance specifications to meet the diverse needs of LCD, touch panel (TP), and OLED display markets.
Hony Glass Technology’s ITO coating can be tailored between 5–500 Ω/□, achieving both high light transmittance and stable conductivity. The specialized low-resistance ITO for OLED applications delivers excellent uniformity at 12 Ω/□ and 15 Ω/□, ensuring consistent display quality. At the same time, the company has introduced metal conductive coating technology featuring ultra-low resistance values of 0.04–0.08 Ω/□, providing highly competitive solutions for high-conductivity and EMI-shielding applications.
Hony Glass Technology has long been dedicated to optical coating technologies, with multi-layer coating capabilities including AR (Anti-Reflection), AG (Anti-Glare), and AF (Anti-Fingerprint) processes.
- AR coatings effectively reduce surface reflection, enhancing display brightness and contrast.
- AG coatings utilize surface microstructures to scatter light, minimizing reflections and glare interference.
- AF coatings employ nano-scale hydrophobic and oleophobic layers to prevent fingerprint and smudge adhesion, greatly improving screen cleanliness and user experience.
These optical coatings can be seamlessly integrated with the ITO conductive layer to produce multifunctional composite glass—combining superior optical quality with excellent electrical performance to meet the rigorous standards of next-generation display and touch technologies.
“By combining GemTech Optoelectronics Corp.’s deep expertise in ITO development with Hony Glass Technology’s proven strengths in optical coatings (AR, AG, AF), thermal bending, and precision cutting, we are able to deliver a comprehensive one-stop solution for global customers in the advanced optoelectronic glass sector,” said Mr. Ben Huang, General Manager of Hony Glass Technology. “This acquisition not only expands our capacity but also extends our technological value chain.”
As global demand for smart devices and new-energy technologies continues to expand, the transparent conductive glass market is expected to maintain strong and sustained growth. By integrating the ITO production capabilities of Gem Tech Optoelectronics Corp., Hony Glass Technology not only reinforces its competitiveness in the touch and display sectors, but also broadens its presence across emerging applications such as solar glass, optoelectronic sensing, and automotive displays—injecting fresh momentum into the company’s long-term growth.
